Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar has said agricultural diversification in this country continues to deepen.
Minister Caesar made this statement while making his contribution to the 2025 budget debate recently.
He outlined some of the Ministry’s areas of focus.
"And we have to place an emphasis on tree crop expansion, avocado, soursop, ackee, coconuts, cocoa, nutmegs, expansion in the production of goats, cattle, sheep, pigs, root crop expansion, sweet potatoes, ginger, dasheen, and plantain and bananas production, conch and lobsters, citrus production, long-line fishing, sea moss production. We purchased a hundred and three (103) sheep, ninety-nine (99) goats, eighteen (18) heads of cattle, sixty (60) pigs, one hundred and seventy-five (175) Orgas, two hundred (200) tillers, thirty-five (35) green houses for the training of youth will be delivered in 2025 and the first cohort will target a hundred and five (105) young persons where they will be trained to operate green houses for eighteen months."
