The Embassy of the Republic of Taiwan, China recently handed over a second donation of relief supplies to the government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
It comprises 5 containers of rice, equaling 10,000 sacks.
Speaking at the handover ceremony Ambassador of the Republic of China, Taiwan to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Her Excellency Fiona Fan said that Taiwan values the friendship with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
"I am pleased to announce the Taiwanese second donation of rice this year that you ten thousand of. I express my special thanks to the Ministry of Agriculture from the Republic of Taiwan."
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Saboto Caesar said the government and people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines continue to deepen cooperation with the government and the people of Taiwan.
"It's not about the rice, it's about the love, we were impacted by Hurricane Beryl and when we started the year 2024 when my Permanent Secretary and Chief Agricultural Officer organized for the implementation of the substantive budget we are not aware that on July 1st coming out of a very dry period, period of extensive drought that we would be impacted by a hurricane and I can remember within twenty (24) hours I got a call from the Chief first and then My Excellency saying to me that we are here to provide support full support to the recovery effort."
