A number of Livestock farmers in North Leeward will benefit from a water tank distribution program through the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Portfolio Minister, Saboto Caesar announced this week that sixty water tanks will be given to livestock farmers to provide support in times of excessive temperatures.
Minister Caesar noted that "North Leeward has a very important role to play in the agricultural sector in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and as we stand here in this heat, I don't have to explain to anyone about the impacts of climate change and the negative implications on production and productivity. We are going to work with the livestock farmers in the country, we have already purchased over sixty (60) water tanks that will be providing to assist you".
Minister Caesar added that a 150-thousand-dollars production support will also be provided to farmers.
"For the farmers who are here, those who will be receiving their letters for the land and the other vegetable farmers from the constituency, we are going to have a meeting before the end of this month where we would be distributing a hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00) in direct production support to the farmers of this constituency and I want to thank the technicians in the Ministry of Agriculture to putting this together".
